A Successful Show Circuit | HITS Ocala 2015

Debbie and Fila PreGreens OcalaDebbie and the Phoenix crew had an amazing circuit at HITS Ocala.  The green horses advanced, learning a lot from having time in the ring with great course designers.  The well seasoned horses were great and won ribbons or were in the top third each week.  There are also a few new additions to Debbie’s show string, including jumpers for Phoenix, Connor & Ebetino Jumpers, Edition Farm and Taylor Lampert.

Highlights from the Circuit:

Fila moved up to the 3’3″ pre-greens with two great trips his last show day in the main hunter ring, winning second and seventh.  Over the course of the 10 weeks at HITS Ocala he was jumping 3′ in a tiny ring and continued to improve, jumping 3’5″ courses in the Adequan Hunters and gaining experience in the Devoucoux Hunter Derby’s.

Debbie Crespo Level 6Crespo, the star of McCarthy Horse Ventures, was the little engine that could and earned himself the name, “The Tank”.  He kept up with Zim, starting off with an eighth place in the Level 5’s, Crespo made his way up to the Level 6’s half way through the circuit.  His last two trips in the stadium were his best – both clear rounds – winning third place out of 50 entries!

SantiagoandTaylorOcalaClassicTaylor’s horses were super stars this circuit.  She and Santiago moved up from the Level 1’s and placed 7th in the Low Adult Classic.  The pair won consistent ribbons in the Level 2’s and medium Adult Jumpers.  Taylor and Dreamer zipped around the 2′ jumper ring – winning first, second and reserve champion in the division.  Taylor’s new venture is a mare named Jazz.  She is looking forward to begin showing her at Culpeper and work her way up the A/O jumpers.

KatnissOcalaLevel4Edition Farm gained two new jumpers to the show string this circuit.  EF Katniss is the new young star among Vivien Malloy’s horses.  Hand picked in Europe for Canadian Olympic rider, Ian Millar, Kat ended up being too small for his show stock, but the perfect fit for Debbie!  Her 15.3 hh doesn’t stop her from jumping the standards.  She started with Debbie in the Level 4’s and has been clean and in the ribbons in the Level 5’s.  In addition, Edition Farm brought on a grey mare for Caitlin to ride in the jumpers.  They had a successful run in the Level 1’s and 2’s and placed in all three classics they entered, winning 4th in the low Adult Classic, and sixth and ninth in the medium Adult Classic.

Cassita 10 and DebbieConnor & Ebetino Jumper’s and Phoenix have a new addition to their show stock – Cassita 10 is a cut above the rest in bloodlines and ability.  With only three classes under their belt in Ocala, Debbie and Cassita moved up from the Level 4’s to the 5’s and won seventh!  We are all anxious to see what the future will hold for this duo, including a breeding program.

Caroline and DiabloCongratulations to Caroline and Diablo winning seventh in the Level 3’s!  We are so proud of Caroline for working hard in school at Quinnipiac and dominating in the show ring – not an easy task!

Isabelle and CorsicaKaren and WorthyAfter minor injuries in the fall, Corsica and Worthy have both come back to work! Corsica and Isabelle won eighth place in the 2′ jumper ring – their very first ribbon together!  Summer shows are sure to have more shining moments for this duo.  Karen and Worthy spent the last two weeks of the circuit soaking up the sunshine on the HITS Post Time track, as well as trotting and cantering around the jumper schooling ring!

Great Results Indoors at Old Salem Farm

Before the Thanksgiving holiday, Debbie took a couple of our baby hunters in training to their first indoor show at Old Salem.  Caitlin and Nicole each brought their adult hunters to prep for Florida and Spring shows, and Devyn brought her pony Brooke to prepare for WEF. With fresh hair cuts and braids, Fiona, Fila, Gardener, Bentley, Brooke and Frazzie were perfect show horses in the cold weather.

Congratulations to Debbie and Fiona (owned by Martin Hall) on their Reserve Champion placing in the 2’6″ Hunter Division and successful debut in the 3′ Hunters.
Debbie and Fila (owned by Taylor Lampert and Freedom Hill Farm & Rescue) placed second, fifth and eighth in the 2’6″ Hunters as well, with a great ride on the flat from Taylor. They are ready for the Ocala Circuit!

Caitlin and Gardener placed third in two jumping trips and fifth on the flat.
Caitlin and Frazzie (owned by Phoenix Horse Farm), bred by her grandmother Vivien Malloy of Edition Farm, were great in the 2′ schooling hunters, winning a fifth place ribbon.

Nicole and Bentley had a great warm up trip in the 2’6″ hunter division and moved up to the 3′ Adult Hunter division, placing eighth in two trips.

Devyn and her pony Brooke won great ribbons in the 2′ Schooling Hunter Division – third, fourth and sixth placings.

Thank you to all of our Phoenix family and friends for coming out and supporting our team, including clients, veterinarians and family alike! And thank you Karen Bulzacchelli for taking pictures of these great horses!
